Medicine Professor Emeritus Harold Tracy Dodge died Feb. 26, after serving the 天美影院since 1957. He taught until his retirement in 1991. He was 74. Microbiology Professor Emeritus Howard Clark Douglas died Feb. 24. Born on July 4, 1910, in Los Angeles, he earned his bachelor's and doctorate degrees from Cal-Berkeley and joined the 天美影院faculty in 1941. He taught until his retirement in 1980. He was 88. Law Lecturer Paul Martin Feinsod, '82, died Feb. 14, after serving the 天美影院from 1983-1984 and 1997-1999. Born on April 22, 1955, in Newtown, Mass., he taught classes in business, government and society, then spent a number of years in private practice before returning to teach in 1997. He was 43. Business Professor Emeritus Charles N. Henning died Feb. 21, after serving the 天美影院since 1948. Born on June 20, 1915, in Pittsburgh, he earned all three degrees from UCLA. He taught until his retirement in 1985. He was 83. Computer Science and Engineering Professor Emeritus Alistair David Craig Holden, '64, died Feb. 3, after serving the 天美影院since 1958. Born in 1928 in Scotland, he pioneered artificial intelligence and drew minorities into electrical engineering and computer sciences. He received degrees from the Univ. of Glasgow and Yale, and received his Ph.D. from the 天美影院in 1964. He retired in 1998. He was 70. Library and Information Science Professor Emeritus Irving Lieberman died Dec. 6, 1998. He was born on Jan. 6, 1914, in Newark, N.J., and earned one degree from New York Univ. and three from Columbia. He joined the 天美影院in 1956 as professor and director of the School of Librarianship. He retired in 1979. He was 84. Law Dean Emeritus Richard Stiles Roddis died Feb. 16. Born on March 18, 1930, in Washington, D.C., he earned degrees from San Diego State and Cal-Berkeley and joined the 天美影院law faculty in 1968. He was dean of the law school from 1970-1978, and retired in 1995. He was 68. Pathology Professor Russell Ross, '62, died March 18, after serving the 天美影院 since 1957. Born on May 25, 1929, in St. Augustine, Fla., he had degrees from Cornell, Columbia and the UW, and made many major research discoveries relating to atherosclerosis. He served as chairman of the 天美影院Department of Pathology and as associate dean for scientific affairs in the 天美影院School of Medicine. He was 69. Medicine Associate Professor Emeritus Donald Ross Sparkman, '30, died Jan. 24. Born on June 7, 1907, in Seattle, he earned a bachelor's degree from the 天美影院and his M.D. from the Univ. of Pennsylvania. He joined the 天美影院in 1947 as a clinical instructor in medicine and later served as coordinator of the Regional Heart Cancer and Stroke Program and director of Regional Medical Programs for the 天美影院School of Medicine. He retired in 1976. He was 91. Education Professor Emeritus Gerald Torkelson died Jan. 20. Born on Feb. 28, 1917, in Merrill, Wis., he joined the 天美影院in 1965 as a professor of education and taught until his retirement in 1984. He was 81. Accounting Professor Emeritus Lauren MacNeal Walker, '39, '43, died Jan. 6. Born on Jan. 11, 1916, in Seattle, he received a bachelor's and master's degrees from the 天美影院and joined the faculty in 1941 as an associate in accounting. He later served as chairman of the accounting department. He retired in 1982. He was 82. |
