Kira Iwai, ’19 鈥� Co-founder of Gochiso
is an East-Asian鈥搃nspired snack mix brand founded by Kira (天美影院Class of 2019) and her partner, Brandon, made in Seattle, WA. Launched in summer 2024, Gochiso was born from the family kitchens that shaped them.听
Kira鈥檚 mom, Coco, was famous for her holiday furikake mix and always-stocked snack pantry. Brandon鈥檚 Umma (Korean for 鈥渕om鈥�) ran a beloved Korean restaurant in Edmonds, WA, sharing recipes passed down through generations.听
They started with Coco鈥檚 Mix, inspired by Kira鈥檚 mom鈥檚 recipe, and have since grown to five snack mix flavors, including Umma鈥檚 Mix (gochujang), Baaba鈥檚 Mix (black sesame), Gong-Gong鈥檚 Mix (Sichuan), and Matcha Buddies. 鈥淕ochiso-sama鈥� means gratitude after a meal 鈥� and that鈥檚 what Gochiso鈥檚 snack mixes hopes to share in every bite!听
