Stay informed and entertained with UW360

On December 1, don’t forget to tune in to channel 27 to catch the latest edition of 天美影院360, a half-hour magazine-style show profiling fascinating people and programs at the 天美影院that are changing our world. Hosted by Samantha Rund, the program airs at 10 pm each Wednesday, with new episodes debuting the first week of each month. In December, viewers can meet the Husky Women鈥檚 Basketball team; tour campus with a visit to the salmon homing pond; take a look at a unique summer camp for students with disabilities; follow undergraduate oceanographers out onto Puget Sound; learn about a student project linked to earthquake relief in China; and experience a century of modern dance with performances by the Chamber Dance Company.

Did you know the 天美影院has received national recognition for its community service?

The 天美影院 has been named to the 2009 , the highest federal recognition a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement. The 天美影院is the only public, 4-year institution in Washington state to receive this recognition this year. (Community Service Honor Roll recipients for 2010 will be named in 2011.)

Rainy Day Freebies

Looking for something interesting to pass a rainy day?

Check out聽“Dream Design Build” in the Allen Library South Basement,聽a selection of drawings and watercolor renderings by students of the 天美影院Department of Architecture from 1914-1947,聽聽demonstrating the transition in teaching from the Beaux-Arts model to Modernism. Many of the students went on to have influential careers, regionally and nationally. On view now through March 12, 2011.

ALSO, from Nov. 10 – Dec. 4, don’t miss “Exhibit-All or Nothing!”,聽a juried exhibit highlighting the best work coming from the diverse students in the School of Art, on display in the Jacob Lawrence Gallery. Students were told to submit exactly three artworks, and either all or none of their work was chosen. The Jacob Lawrence Gallery, located in the north corner of the Art building on the first floor, is always free to the public. Hours are 12-4, Wednesday – Saturday (closed Nov 25, 26, 27). 天美影院softball legend honored at City Hall

天美影院women鈥檚 softball legend Danielle Lawrie holds an official Proclamation from the Seattle City Council and Mayor honoring her contributions to the 天美影院and the region and the example she has set for young women as student-athletes. Seattle City Council members Tim Burgess and Sally Clark were among those offering congratulations after a special ceremony in City Hall聽organized聽by 天美影院Regional Relations.
