FEATURED HUSKIES FROM THE 20TH LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT

"Attending the ÌìÃÀÓ°Ôºhas given me the opportunity to have enriching experiences that have defined me personally and professionally. I believe I have made a positive impact on the ÌìÃÀÓ°Ôºcampus and I have developed valuable skills through my experiences that will help me and the community I serve in my future endeavors. As an aspiring physician, combining my passion for serving vulnerable and disadvantaged communities and my love for medicine has shaped my enthusiasm to someday become the medical professional that I look up to."
SERVING THE 20TH LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT
The ÌìÃÀÓ°Ôºfacilitates hundreds of programs in communities across the state. Below are a few that operate in your district. Programs active as of January 2023.

Chehalis STEM Camp
The ÌìÃÀÓ°Ôºpartners with the Chehalis school district to host a weeklong at W.F. West High School, in Chehalis. The camp, for incoming 9th–12th graders, focuses on engineering and medical science. Faculty and students from the ÌìÃÀÓ°ÔºCollege of Engineering and ÌìÃÀÓ°ÔºMedicine provide opportunities to interact with cutting-edge technology and science.

ÌìÃÀÓ°Ôºin the High School
Through the program, high school sophomores, juniors and seniors can complete ÌìÃÀÓ°Ôº courses — and earn college credit — in their own classrooms with their own teachers. Teachers are approved and trained by ÌìÃÀÓ°Ôºfaculty to teach official ÌìÃÀÓ°Ôºcourses using ÌìÃÀÓ°Ôºcurriculum, activities, texts, tests and grading scales. Participating students can earn college credits at a fraction of the cost, and these credits are accepted by most colleges and universities across Washington and around the country. Partner high schools can offer ÌìÃÀÓ°Ôºcoursework in computer science, math, science, world languages, humanities and social sciences. .ÌýÌý

ÌìÃÀÓ°ÔºINSPIRE
supports western Washington educators of pre-K through 12th grade with reciprocal research-practice partnerships, focusing on student thinking and giving educators the opportunity to learn alongside children, improving instruction and student achievement. Fueled by innovative local educators at all levels of the public-school system and supported by local philanthropists and individual donors, INSPIRE is coordinated by a team of faculty, staff and graduate students at the ÌìÃÀÓ°ÔºCollege of Education.

Pacific Northwest Seismic Network
The (PNSN), a partnership between the University of Oregon and the ÌìÃÀÓ°Ôº, is dedicated to reducing impacts of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions in Washington and Oregon by providing accurate and timely information about earthquakes and ground motions to scientists, engineers, planners and the public. The second-largest seismic network in the United States, PNSN has more than 300 seismograph stations as well as several offices and personnel across the region.
