Erin Lennon, who will be entering her third year in the 天美影院Law School, has been selected as student regent at the 天美影院for the 2007-08 academic year. Student regents serve one-year terms.
Lennon received a bachelor’s degree from the 天美影院in 2002, majoring in sociology, with minors in women studies and Spanish. She was awarded Phi Beta Kappa and was a member of the University Honors Program.
“I care deeply about the future of the 天美影院,” Lennon said. “I’m very thankful for the opportunities that I have received as an undergraduate, an employee, and a professional student here. This is an exciting time at 天美影院and I’m looking forward to working with the board and campus leaders over the next year.”
Lennon entered the 天美影院as an undergraduate from Ballard High School, where she was valedictorian. She was named a Washington State Scholar, which included a full tuition scholarship. After receiving her bachelor’s degree she worked in regulatory affairs at an HIV research unit at the 天美影院School of Medicine., traveling to Africa to train local staff in study procedures.
As a law student, Lennon has volunteered as a student ambassador, a peer mentor and a tutor for a first-year student with learning disabilities. She also has served on the boards of Washington Law Review and of Outlaws, the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender student group of the Law School.
Lennon has worked as a summer associate for the Seattle law firm of Perkins Coie LLP and also for the firm Stoel Rives. She also has worked for Judge John Coughenour of the U.S. District Court of Western Washington.
天美影院students who wish to be considered for appointment as regents submit applications to a joint committee of the Associated Students of the 天美影院and the Graduate and Professional Student Senate. The committee selects three to five individuals whose applications are passed on to the governor.
