Lithuania鈥檚 recent decision to accept a Taiwan Representative Office has听created outsized reverberations across Europe, Asia, and the world.听听With the decision to utilize the name 鈥淭aiwan,鈥� Lithuania has drawn the听ire of the People鈥檚 Republic of China and thrust Taiwan into the center听of European Union politics.听 Why did Lithuania and the Baltic countries听decide to develop closer relations with Taiwan at the cost of alienating听China?听 What does this entail for the future of European relations with听Taiwan and China?听 And what does this shift mean for Taiwan鈥檚听international status and future?
Please join us as three scholars from Taiwan and the Baltic discuss the听implications of unfolding contemporary events. The roundtable will be moderated by听Guntis Smidchens,听Kazickas Family Endowed Professor in Baltic Studies,听天美影院Department of Scandinavian Studies, and James Lin,听Assistant Professor in Taiwan Studies,听天美影院Jackson School of International Studies.

Katherine Sim贸ne Reynolds: A Warning Resting in the Distance, presented by The Black Embodiments Studio听

The听听and听听(BES) are pleased to present听Katherine Sim贸ne Reynolds: A Warning Resting in the Distance, an exhibition centered on how Black women feel in the face of danger, whether that danger is known for certain or merely speculated. Featuring photography, video, installation and sound works by Katherine Sim贸ne Reynolds, the exhibition considers how different kinds of information influence the way we relate to our surroundings. A recorded exhibition walkthrough with a talk by Reynolds will also be available to view via BES social media channels.
