Student Recreation Fund

Recreational activity and the ability to balance academics with physical engagement is paramount to the success of our students. Through our programs, students strive to聽build聽communities and experiences outside of the classroom,聽control聽stress levels,聽and set聽healthy habits for the rest of their lives.

天美影院Recreation employs the Student Recreation Fund to ensure every student can join or participate in a recreational class, program, or activity regardless of socioeconomic barriers. Each quarter, every student has the opportunity to apply for a Student Recreation Fund financial award to make meaningful recreation a reality.

Application Closes July 5, 2026

Once your application has been reviewed, you’ll receive an e-mail with your award status and instructions for next steps.

In order to be eligible for a Student Recreation Fund award, you must be:

  • Enrolled in at least 1 academic credit-bearing course at the 天美影院,
  • A Rec member, and
  • Eligible to participate in your desired offering

…during the quarter for which you are applying.

If you are enrolled in at least 1 academic credit at the 天美影院 Seattle campus, you are likely a Rec member. You can verify this by checking your tuition statement for the Services and Activities Fee paid to the 天美影院 Seattle campus. The Services and Activities Fee paid to the Bothell or Tacoma campuses do not guarantee Rec membership.

If you are enrolled at the Bothell or Tacoma campus, you may not automatically be considered a Rec member. For more information on student Rec memberships, visit our membership webpage.

The following offerings require specific experience or memberships in order to participate:

  • Aquatics
    • Group Swim Lessons II
    • Group Swim Lessons III
  • UWild Climbing Classes
    • Belay Techniques
    • Sport Climbing – Gym to Crag
    • Summer Sport Climbing
    • Trad is Rad
    • Multi-Pitch Climbing
    • Rope and Rescue
    • Glacier Travel & Crevasse Rescue

    • You must use your award within the quarter it is offered.
    • Your award is non-transferable.
    • If awarded, your award will cover 75% of the cost of one offering per quarter, up to a maximum of $100.
    • If awarded, you will be responsible for the difference in price between the award and the full cost. We accept checks, money orders (for the exact amount), Husky Card, or credit card (except AMEX) as forms of payment.
    • Receiving an award does not guarantee space in your requested activity, class, and/or program. If you are worried about your preferred offering filling up, we encourage you to submit your application by the first deadline as awards are delivered prior to registration opening for the quarter.
    • Wait to purchase your desired offering until after you receive funding as we do not issue refunds.

Eligible Offerings

The following 天美影院Recreation offerings are listed in the Student Recreation Fund application. Beware that not all offerings are available year-round.

When applying, you will be asked to select your first and second choices. Your award will be granted based on the availability of your first choice, then by the availability of your second choice. If neither choice is available, we invite you to re-apply for different offerings.

Intramurals

Offered year-round.

Only offered during the academic year. Not offered over the summer.

Only offered during the academic year. Not offered over the summer.

UWild Trips

Offered according to seasonal availability during the academic year. Not offered over the summer.

      • Backpacking
      • Cross-Country Skiing

      • Snowshoeing
